Pendray Inn & Tea House

Today we have a guest post from Civili-tea supporter, Melodie Brier.  She and a friend went on a trip to Victoria, British Columbia and had a lovely afternoon tea at the Pendray Inn & Tea House and wanted to share it with you.  Here is her story:

Of course, the famous place for tea when you are visiting Victoria, the city of gardens, on Vancouver Island is the Empress Hotel.  If you can’t get a reservation or you have already “been there, done that” and want to try something different, I recommend the Pendray Inn and Tea House at the Huntingdon Manor.  It is located directly on the Inner Harbor a few blocks from the Empress and very close to the black ball ferry port.

Our tea service was every thing you would expect from a formal afternoon tea.  Beautiful fine China cups and tea pots, a tiered tray of scrumptious food, nice selection of high quality teas in beautiful setting.

Our server Maddie was very knowledgeable especially about the importance of tea being steeped the proper amount of time.

Not only was it a cherished time for two close friends, Melodie told me it was even more special because her friend was nearing the end of her life.  I thank Melodie for sharing this very special memory and reminding all of us to appreciate our time together.

Tea time doesn’t end when the pot is empty;
You carry it in your heart.

Shineworthy Tea

Sometimes there isn’t really much to get excited about in January.  You’re in the post-holiday slump and the days have turned cold, dreary, and dank.  That makes it the perfect time to grab some friends and go for some comforting warmth and togetherness over some hot tea.  Which is exactly what we did. We went… Continue Reading

Pipers Tea and Coffee

I pass by Paducah, KY on occasion and last time through, with the help of Mr. Google, I found a groovy little tea room called Pipers Tea and Coffee. It’s just a short hop from the interstate, located in an historic building that was once the Paducah Coca-Cola bottling plant.  Reportedly, this is an area… Continue Reading
