Time Flies in Cambridge

On our whirlwind visit to Cambridge, we popped into the Copper Kettle for a very, very quick stop.  It was a busy place full of college students and tourists.

We ran in, had some delicious cakes, scones, and strudel bites drank some ice water to cool down and a little bit of tea and ran back out.  I wish I could tell you more but we probably spent all of 15 – 20 minutes there at the most and I spent the majority of my time talking and taking pictures!  I did like the carrot cake bites the best.

The Copper Kettle (full name is Agora at the Copper Kettle just to be confusing) is in a great location.  If you do go, enjoy the sights around you.  Sit outside if you can.

On the corner, next to the restaurant is this attention-grabbing clock called the The Corpus Clock.  The grasshopper on top is called “The Chronophage” which is Greek for “The Time Eater.”  It’s a thought-provoking, borderline disturbing piece of art – but isn’t that what art is all about?  If you’d like to know more here’s a five minute video explaining the intricacies of the design, mechanics and meaning behind the clock.  “The Time Eater…”  That strikes close to home.

Looking across the road was the stunning architecture of Kings College founded in 1441.  The chapel there is celebrating its 500th anniversary in 2015.  I was just in awe of the grandeur inside and out.  As you can see, it was such a beautiful, clear day to explore some of the history swirling around us.

Cambridge was just captivating and I wouldn’t mind going back and spending more time there someday.  If only that darn grasshopper wasn’t eating so fast.
