January 12 is National Hot Tea Day
In the USA, January 12 is National Hot Tea Day. It falls appropriately enough in January which is also National Hot Tea Month. This makes perfect sense, because there is something especially comforting about holding a piping hot cup of tea during the cold winter months. When it’s freezing outside, what could be better? Tea truly hits the spot.
National Hot Tea Day was created by the Tea Council of the USA to promote awareness and share information about the many benefits of drinking tea. From improved health to simple enjoyment, tea offers something for everyone.
They must be doing a good job, because more people than ever are not only aware of tea’s health benefits but are also coming to appreciate the simple pleasure of brewing a cup.
Making tea often becomes a comforting ritual. As fresh water begins to boil and you listen for the kettle to whistle, you select the tea you’re in the mood for and spoon it into the teapot. Once the water is ready, you pour it over the leaves and allow it to steep for two to six minutes, depending on the type of tea you’ve chosen.
Finally, you pour yourself a warm cup and take a moment to enjoy it—feeling the heat in your hands, gently blowing across the surface, and waiting just long enough before taking that first soothing sip. Now you're warm on the inside and out!
Hot tea is the perfect companion for a winter day.
