Queen Elizabeth turns 93 this year officially today, on the second Saturday of June. Well, isn’t that an odd way of putting it, you ask. Yes. Yes, it is. But that’s the life of a royal for you.
She was born on April 21, 1926 which makes her 93 years old. (Here at Civili-tea we do the math for you.) However, her birthday is celebrated (usually) on the second Saturday in June. This tradition of celebrating the royal birthday on a different day than the actual birthday was started more than 250 years ago by King George who was born in November – not a good weather month in England.
Reportedly, Queen Elizabeth’s favorite tea is Twinings Earl Grey. So we can join her in a cup of birthday tea.
Happy Birthday to the Queen! Cheers!
