Peace and calm

We will be more successful in all our endeavors if we can let go of the habit of running all the time, and take little pauses to relax and re-center ourselves. And we’ll also have a lot more joy in living.

 — Thich Nhat Hanh

I have a job that comes with some stress.  I bet most people can identify with that.  Life in general is not easy for anyone.

Mind you, I’m not complaining, it’s my chosen career but after many years of working long hours to build a business and helping many people, I realized that I had created a bit of a problem for myself.  I became overworked and exhausted resulting in an inability to sleep, recurring headaches, neck pain and sinus troubles with increasing frequency.  My body was trying to give me a clue.

So, I realized that I needed to make some changes and beat back the din of the world.  I have deliberately added ways to bring peace and calm back into my life.  You could say I was longing for a little “Civility.”  I’m doing this in several ways.  I’m taking more time off, going to yoga, reconnecting with friends and genuinely enjoying the experience of tea.

The nice thing about tea is that it cannot be hurried.  You measure out the tea, wait on the water to boil and wait on the tea to brew.  Then as you sip your tea you have some time to contemplate the deep existential questions of life.  Things like, “What’s important?”  “What’s my purpose?”  And, “Why isn’t my laundry done?”

You know I’ve been a fan of tea for many years but taking on this new blog hobby has given me an added push to try different teas and go different places.

I really am enjoying sharing it with you!  Thank you so much!
